Last weekend I attended an online virtual retreat called, the MAN-tra Retreat. It was incredible. It's a great reminder of how spending time with like-minded men is so valuable for your growth. There was one speaker who gave a presentation on the effects that porn and the porn industry are having on society. He reminded us that when we watch porn, we are supporting an industry that exploits women and children. The porn industry (just like cigarette companies) purposefully targets young people knowing that their product is addictive. That is why porn is getting more and more "hardcore." Just like a drug, you either need more of it or the harder stuff to get the same rush. He shared with us studies that show how porn has increasingly got more violent towards women over the years. While you may think, what's the big deal? It's just a little fun and I like it. The problem is the distorted image it is giving you about women, their needs and how to respect a woman. I am not innocent in this, I have plenty of hours invested into watching porn. One of the reasons I have stopped watching porn is because I want to have healthier connections to women. I want to be able to look a women as a soul first then as a mother. Women are the mothers of all of us! I no longer want to view women as an object that I want to use for my own gratification. The speaker also shared with us that with too much porn, men are losing their attraction to real women. Meaning, you won't be able to perform in the bedroom because your body/mind has such a distorted view. I like to remind men, if you want real sex, you have to give up fake sex! How to stop watching porn and become a semen retention master? Start educating yourself about what porn is doing to your world and decide to become a real man. A real man is a protector of women. We don't protect them because they are weak, we protect them because we love them. We don't protect them because they are incapable, we protect them because they are our mothers. As guys, we need to do our part in the way other men are treating our daughters, sisters, mothers and friends. If we turn a blind eye, then we are part of the problem. It all starts with you!
